Los Angeles went Darker on February 2nd, 2017 when the stars of E L James’ hotly anticipated sequel to her Fifty Shades of Grey franchise attended the North American premier of Fifty Shades Darker.

It was the type of night Mr. Grey would expect you to be on your best behaviour for, all gussied up in Caroline Acton with just the right accessories. A masquerade ball mask, for instance.

Fans of the franchise got an opportunity to recreate the opulent and saturated masquerade ball ceremony when they were invited to attend the lavish event in LA. Fans from all over the world came to meet their #FiftyFamily and indulge in an all-out girls night. Complete with music from José James (the vocalist and band featured at the ball in the film) hors-d’oeuvres, elegant buffet, dancing, photo booths and more, the night was as magical as it is portrayed in James’ telling of the story.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson along with director James Foley and author E L James, stepped onto the stage to present the movie and share their thoughts on how the growth between films is something fans will not be disappointed with. James, more enthusiastic than we’ve seen her in a long time, spoke about her excitement surrounding Darker and how confident she is that the fans will be satiated. “We nailed it,” she exclaims, throwing her fists in the air as if securing a victory.

While everyone looked spectacular, all eyes were on Jamie and Dakota.

Dakota illuminated the room in a blush pink gown by Valentino with a plunging neckline from the Spring 2017 collection. Her co-star, Dornan, rocked the same designer while sporting Louboutin shoes.

The pair compliment each other well – laughing and giggling, whispering some inside jokes to each other, they without a doubt have developed a friendship and trust that will expand beyond their years as Christian and Ana.

One premier down and it’s off to Hamburg, Germany for premier number two.

Oh Ellen – See, this is EXACTLY why we (and you, we’re sure) can’t wait for the interview of all interviews!

Ellen shared a photo of Jamie along with a video via Snapchat showcasing the antics she’s cooking up with the Fifty Shades Darker star. It looks like Jamie is now playing the part of the submissive, in only a way Ellen can. You can hear the crowd roaring behind the camera, succumbing to Ellen’s witty and satirical charm and at Dornan’s awkwardness.

Ellen isn’t afraid to push the envelope at the expense of others, and you kind of have to anticipate that with her.

We knew the interview would be spectacular but we weren’t expecting to be laughing right from the gut. This is gearing up to be Jamie’s best, and sexiest, interview yet.

We’ve added screencaps from Ellen’s Snapchat featuring Jamie to our gallery. Just click on the thumbnails below!

Jamie Dornan has arrived on US soil for the whirlwind of promotion he’ll be busy with this week in anticipation of Fifty Shades Darker.

But wait a minute – where’s his hair? GONE!

It seems like forever since Jamie was last seen sporting a buzz cut – 2007 to be exact, when he was photographed with then girlfriend Keira Knightley. Jamie’s new do is all to do with his role as Will Scarlet in Robin Hood: Origins, which he’s been busy filming just prior to the US leg of promotion for Darker. Luckily, he’s still our Jamie and just as good looking as ever.

Jamie is in LA to commence a string of appearances, talk shows, interviews – you name it – all in preparation for Darker to hit our eyeballs. Today he’s recording one of the fandoms most anticipated interviews – The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

You can find pictures of Jamie arriving to LAX in our gallery by clicking the thumbnails below.

11 days to go – Are you ready for something… Darker?

With sixty-six days to go, Fifty Shades debuted a second trailer for the hotly anticipated second installment to the movie franchise, Fifty Shades Darker. With a cluster of new, never-before-seen moments, the trailer has ignited across social media and is a current worldwide trending topic.

Watch the trailer below before we start discussing! (NSFW)

The trailer, released only hours ago shows us more than we were expecting in the 2:29 it runs for. It starts like the last trailer – Christian proclaiming his feelings for Anastasia, five days post-breakup. “I’m not very good at this. I never wanted to try again,” but with Ana, things are different. Christian is different. He sends Ana white roses prior to surprising her at José’s photo exhibit, where he asks her to dinner. “Have dinner with me,” he pleads to which Ana (with her smart mouth) replies “OK fine. I will have dinner with you, because I’m hungry. But we are only talking and that’s it,” which we as readers of the novels know will not be the case. The next scene in which we see Ana paying for meal, much to Christian’s dismay, is not the scene in which they go for dinner after the show but it still showcases the humour that we hoped director James Foley would incorporate from the first film. Ana takes the cheque dropped off by the waiter and adds a subtle “Gotta be quicker than that, Grey,” as she reaches for her wallet.

Kate has returned from her trip to Barbados with Elliot and we can see Ana jumping into her arms at the bar we saw in the first film. Since Kate has been away for most of the unfolding drama, she knows nothing of what’s happened. Kate wraps Ana in her arms and asks “Are you happy?” to which Ana quickly replies “I’ve never been happier.”

Let’s jump to a steamy, romantic dinner between Christian and Ana where things quickly get hot, hot, HOT! Christian, ever the gentleman and always the dominant, leans over the table covered in glasses of wine and fine silver and simply tells Anastasia to “…take ’em off.” At this point, the two have solidified their relationship and are moving forward from the traumatic experiences they both suffered in the first movie. Anastasia complies and deftly removes her panties while remaining at the table. What happens next has all types of bothered. If you’ve read the books, you know that in the next scene that is shown, Christian isn’t being a gentleman, at all! While his fingers deftly ride up the back of Anastasia’s legs in a crowded elevator after dinner, her expression says it all and exactly what Christian is doing with her. We’re then catapulted into the shower scene; a sexy, heated take that find Christian and Ana fully clothed going at it in his extravagant bathroom – a scene a lot of fans were hoping to see! That clip is then followed by the pool scene; not a swimming pool. Ana and Christian are playing the game with cues, after making a bet with each other. The prize?! Sex, in each their own way.

Finally, we get to see some Jack! Eric Johnson who plays Ana’s intrusive new boss at SIP feels compelled to tell Ana his personal feelings towards her new beau. “Your boyfriend has a reputation,” he says, eluding that he may know more about Christian’s past than he leads us to believe. “Do you want to be kept, or have respect,” he whispers to Ana while having her pinned between himself and a door, then watches her stride away. Creepy!

Let’s jump to a new shower scene where Ana is freely touching Christian. This time, they’re not fully clothed but enjoying a shower as they should with each other. Enter Mrs. Robinson. Yes we’ve seen Elena (Kim Basinger) in the previous trailer with a voice over part, but never before have we seen her so abruptly with the voice over now matching her voice. “Do you think you’re the first woman who’s tried to save him,” she asks Ana. “He’s changing. Its not what he wants anymore,” Ana retorts, to which Elena firmly suggests “…but it’s what he needs.” Ana and Christian are also seen sleeping in the same bed together, which was previously one of Christian’s rules, now broken. We then get a flash of scenes; one of Ana in Christian stealing a kiss from each other and a quick glance at Leila (Christian’s ex submissive) stalking Ana from afar as she exits SIP with Jack.

Our hearts immediately jump into our throats with what we see next – In the first trailer we saw Charlie Tango going down but this time, we see it crash! Although we know Christian ends up with only a few scratches in the end, seeing what we’ve read come to life has definitely got us emotional.

In quick five frame segments, we then we quickly examine the next set of scenes flashing before our eyes: Christian on his knees in front of a topless Ana, a sexy scene which has Ana arching her back in wanton, Christian picking Ana up while in his gym and placing her on a piece of equipment as he rips open his shirt, and a sexy whisper at the masquerade ball. We then climb up Ana’s legs, adorned in high fashion lingerie while Christian’s stares from across the room. “You just going to stand there gawking,” she asks, to which he quickly replies “Yes.”

We’re then blasted yet again into quick segments showcasing the drama, the secrets, the past all coming back to haunt Christian. No matter how hard he tries, his past is catching up with him and it’s time to face those demons.

The lasts scene from the new trailer truly does have us in fifty shades of emotions. From sadness, to anger, to love and hope, we get our first glance at submissive Christian, who falls to his knees after he thinks Ana is leaving him. In a heart tugging move, Christian grabs Ana’s hand and places it upon his bare chest; an action he has trusted no one to accomplish before.

The entirety of the trailer is consumed by Miguel’s version of ‘Crazy in Love’ by Beyoncé and we think it adds just the right touch. Miguel is still hard at work in the studio finalizing the version for film.

So, what did you think? Was it everything you hoped for and more? We’d love to hear your thoughts and comments so please do so by leaving them in the comment section below.

On a personal note, of all the trailers released, this is by far EJD’s favourite. It’s shown that the films are staying true to the books and that those little scenes that often don’t make it into the movies (because some consider them less important) are indeed being accounted for. It’s those small scenes that make the difference; they’re the scenes that build the foundation of the story and missing them in the movie is always heart breaking. We’re thankful Team Fifty is working so hard behind the scenes to make sure we get the best of the best!

But that’s not all the news we were hit with today! As members of the #OfficialFifty Campaign for Darker, we are more than excited to share the premiere news with you! The official premiere will be held in Los Angeles where cast and crew will be in attendance. The premier has been set for February 2nd, 2017 – eight days prior to the worldwide release. Jamie, Dakota, Erika and multitude of cast will be there enjoying the day with us.

A masquerade event is also scheduled for the evening of February 2nd. Official Fifty members have already been granted access but that doesn’t mean you can’t attend! Apply here for your chance at the VIP event – the more the merrier! And we’d love to meet some of you there!

Along with the trailer today came a vast compendium of treats delivered to members of the OF campaign as well. The new, full length poster in UHQ was revealed today. Click it to see it in gorgeous quality in our gallery.

You can also check out some new stills featuring Christian and Ana in stunning UHQ quality in the gallery, another gift courtesy of #OfficialFifty.

With the official release just around the corner, things are starting to speed up fast. Enjoy the ride – it’s been a privilege to share this experience with you all. Just remember to stop, look, breathe and take it all in. Before you know it, it’ll be 2018.

It’s been a while since we’ve laid eyes on our favourite Irishman! Jamie took Los Angeles by storm today whilst attending the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversation Series. Hosted by Variety’s Jenelle Riley, Dornan was there to talk about his role as Paul Spector in Belfast thriller, The Fall. The final episode (for Dornan) aired last Friday simultaneously on BBC Two and RTE One and it left viewers in fifty shades of emotions.

‘The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides vital assistance and educational programming to its performers while serving the public through it’s children’s literacy needs’ So, Jamie took some time to sit down with Jenelle to talk about his acting craft and process.

Unfortunately, no video has been released of the conversation as it’s due to post on SAG’s YouTube in a couple of days. We’re stoked however to hear how Jamie perfects the role of Paul Spector and any insight into Jamie’s thoughts about Spector’s demise.

The star is in LA to work on a current project ‘Untogether,’ where he plays Nick – a writer who’s achieved success writing his memoir of war-time courage which sees him showered in women and wealth. The story however focuses around the affair between Nick (Dornan) and Andrea (Jemima Kirke,) a former teen prodigy turned heroin-addict who’s trying to achieve success as a writer.

The film is already halfway through production, completing much of it before Dornan’s arrival.

The star is also set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel tomorrow evening at 11:35pm EST on ABC. He’ll tape the show during the day tomorrow prior to it being aired.
