FIFTY SHADES DARKER TRAILER DEBUTS WORLDWIDE

AND WE THOUGHT YESTERDAY’S TEASER WAS AMAZING. Universal Pictures released the very first full length trailer to Fifty Shades Darker today and we’ve been fangirling, and fan-boying, all day long. Take a look below and watch the goosebumps grow!

Are you alive?! Yeah, us either. The trailer has some awesome scenes in it and really provides the fans with the ‘darker’ atmosphere of the film.

In the beginning, you can see Jack, Ana’s boss, watching the fireworks display at the Grey Mansion from afar while the trailer then leads into Christian giving a gift to Ana, followed by the reveal of their masquerade ball masks and a burning questions left by Christian. “Intrigued?” he asks Anastasia, and we’re guessing she more than is!

We’re then whisked away to the ball where the flow of magic, dancing, lights leaves us captivated. Following this short scene, Ana is surprised by a votive of white long stemmed roses, sent by Christian in an attempt to get back his girl. “I want you back… I had no idea what this was going to become. Christian proclaims, while Ana responds with “I don’t see how this can work.” Christian is devastated at what he lost a mere five days ago and is desperate to have Ana back. In the next scene, he’s seen (what looks to be) surprising her at José’s art exhibit, where in the book, they traveled to the show together. Nevertheless, Ana is caught completely off guard when she sees a sullen Christian standing only a few feet away from her.

Next up, we head into what looks like Escala, Christian’s home, where Anastasia is dressed in her evening gown from the ball, while Christian ‘gawks’ at her, as she details in the trailer. “Are you just going to stand there, gawking?” “Yes,” Christian proclaims, because he’s Christian Grey and if he wants to gawk, he’ll gawk.

Onward into the bathroom where a heated shower scene and a half-naked Christian takes back his beloved Ana with formidable force. Ana doesn’t seem to mind – and why would she?! The two are seen embracing passionately, careful not too give too much away. But damn – can we just talk about this man’s Michelangelo physique for a second?! *insert heart eyes* Dornan as Grey is certainly how we expected him to be, and then some!

Next, we’re catapulted into the Grey’s pool house, where Christian will *spoiler* eventually propose to Ana at the end of the film. He begs the question “What do you want, Anastasia?” while the response is nothing short of curt. Ana gets to the point – if he wants to be with her, then he’s going to have to conform to her and abandon his previous lifestyle. “This time, no rules. No punishments. And no more secrets,” expressing the need for a vulnerable Christian – one who wants to share his world with her and she wants to share it with him.

But speaking of secrets, next we find Ana and Christian sleeping in Ana’s bed at her apartment. While Ana tosses and turns, she sees the image of a woman at the end of her bed, the bed Grey is sound asleep in. At second glance, she sees nothing there – but we the fans know that Leila is quietly lurking in the shadows, intrigued by Miss Steele.

Now if that wasn’t creepy enough, what the heck does Jack think he’s doing? Barricading Ana in his office, with a silent ‘Shhhh’ as his fingers approach his lips. This is our first glimpse of Eric Johnson (hilariously funny man) as the sinister Jack Hyde.

But let’s up the macabre level a bit more and add in Christian’s first Dominant, Elena – FINALLY a glimpse of Kim Basigner as the intimidating, blonde bombshell, Elena. Her role has us extremely feverish and wanting to see more of her in the film. Elena is seen at the ball as Ana walks vigorously away from her – a tell tale sign that the two have had a confrontation of sorts. What’s happened?!

As scenes quickly begin to change in flashes of white light, we see Ana get out of her car, Christian and Taylor in tow, with expressions of shock and disbelief plastered across their faces. Is this where they see that someone has doused Ana’s car in red paint? Who could it have been?

Finally, a barrage of scenes occur, where Ana and Christian are seen overlooking a file on Ana, Charlie Tango (Christian’s helicopter) in mid tailspin, an eerie visitor in the stairway at the Grey Mansion during the ball and Ana rushing out of SIP into the embrace of her dark knight.

Lastly, the trailer ends with Ana, alone in her apartment, while Elena’s voice is heard in the background saying “Do you think you’re the first woman who’s tried to save him?” It’s slowly revealed that Ana is not in fact alone in her apartment as the camera shifts and reveals Leila standing behind her.

A beautifully well done trailer that delivers on all levels. We all had an idea on what we’d like to see in the trailer and I think it pretty much covered it, without giving too much away.

One thing’s for sure, we’ll be watching it again and again and again and again until it’s what our dreams are made of. Bravo on an excellent first trailer – it’s definitely made the wait until February a little more bearable.

OK… JUST BREATHE.

DON’T GO INTO CARDIAC ARREST! A teaser trailer for the official Fifty Shades Darker trailer was posted today and, it may be completely rhetorical to mention, but the fans went CRAZY. Take a quick look at the teaser below before we get into further discussion!

ARE YOU OK?! Because we’re sure as heck not! Who knew that a short 20 second teaser could send the screaming fans into a world-wide frenzy?! That frenzy, understandably and as expected, has Fifty Shades Darker trending world wide on multiple social media platforms as everyone collectively lost all of their cognitive senses once the teaser was posted. Fansites and fans went into overdrive.

The teaser offers a quick glance into the trilogy’s second movie, scheduled to hit theaters Valentine’s Day 2017. Ana’s long, sexy legs and a one-word line from Christian… “Intrigued?” has judiciously sent our hearts into overdrive, heads spinning, knees weak and just metaphorically, killed us all. It also reveals that the first official full length trailer for Darker will hit our eyeballs tomorrow! TOMORROW! The trailer is set to premier on or around 11:00am EST on Fifty Shades’ official social media pages. So set those alarms for ten to eleven because we most definitely do NOT want to miss this!

But if that wasn’t enough, let’s go ahead and post a video of Jamie and Dakota from the set this past Summer thanking fans. Naturally, we died again.

OK, so how adorbs is this?! Standing in front of Christian’s private jet, Jamie and Dakota take a second to thank the fans for all the love and support over the past two years and for helping the official Fifty Shades Facebook Page for reaching a mind blowing 10 million Facebook likes! Incredible!

Perfect. It’s Christian and Ana together again. Something we will have waited two years, almost to the day, to happen. And we can’t wait!

During the week of April 10th through 16th, Karoline of @Jamie_DornanCan and I (Holly from EJD) spent a week in Vancouver, BC for the filming of Fifty Shades Darker and Freed. We also visited previous and upcoming filming locations while the cast was in studio or while shooting interior scenes. This is our week and everything we experienced and visited in review.

Sunday April 10th, 2016

After I had finally made it to Vancouver, we took a trip to Cecil Green Park House on the UBC Campus which was rented out by production to complete scenes for Fifty Shades Freed. Because minimal setting up by the crew had begun, we had unlimited access to the property and were able to take beautiful pictures of what will be Christian and Ana’s home. With the sun shining bright, the flowers in full bloom, the grass as green as ever and the cool breeze off the Pacific Ocean, it’s no wonder Cecil Green was chosen to be Christian and Ana’s forever home.

Monday April 11th, 2016

We arrived on set shortly after 8:00am where it was evident that the crew had been hastily setting up for the day’s exterior filming. Trucks, crew, cable, cameras, lighting and the like engulfed Cecil Green Park House, turning it into Christian and Ana’s home. The cast, including Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Arielle Kebbel, Max Martini and Brant Daughtery were already on set being prepped in hair and makeup. Filming would commence shortly after 10:00am.

Filming first began at the entrance of Cecil Green, where Christian first introduces Ana to his idea of buying them a house. Jamie and Dakota were seen laughing and enjoying each others company between takes. It was a beautiful day for filming and the cast and crew were seen all around set, waving, smiling and enjoying the warm Vancouver air. We were gifted with waves from Max Martini who seemed to be elated to be on set. Arielle Kebbel was also on set as the saucy Gia Matteo. She looked gorgeous with her long blonde hair and sassy clothes.

An unfortunate turn of events occurred when some obnoxious paparazzi began bullying us. We were minding our own business when we were suddenly attacked verbally. The comments made were derogatory, belittling and downright mean with nothing to implicate the sudden outburst. The verbal attacks went on and on and understandably left us in shock. We had began packing our things to leave as we were not going to stand for such offensive behaviour, however, every other fan and paparazzi on set at the time stuck up for us, reminding us that we traveled a very long way to come here and that we shouldn’t let the actions of others deter our goal. With the support of fellow fans and goodhearted paps, we decided to stay, not knowing that the next day, it would totally pay off.

The day continued with the sun beaming brightly. We broke for lunch and headed to an on campus pub for some grub.When we returned, production had moved to the driveway part of the set where Christian’s uber sexy 2017 R8 Audi became the focus point.

In a scene from Fifty Shades Freed, Christian lets Ana drive his Audi after visiting Christian’s parents for dinner. In this scene, Christian and Ana are seen walking down the driveway, arms wrapped around each other as newlyweds, engagement rings and wedding bands blinging brightly. Christian tosses the keys to Ana playfully, in which she graciously accepts with excitement. While filming, Dakota dropped the keys, or rather couldn’t catch them, creating laughter and fun on set. Oh to see the blooper reel. Jamie and Dakota were laughing and giggling no doubt to mock Dakota’s much-like-Ana’s clumsy demeanor. It was a real treat to see.

After a successful day of filming, production wrapped roughly around 6:00 pm. Even though we stood for hours and had a little bump in the road, it was all-in-all, a fantastic day. One that we wouldn’t soon forget.

We were approached by a senior PA and notified that Dakota herself had gotten word regarding the verbal attack we had suffered earlier that day. He asked for both of our Twitter and Instagram handles as well as our names, personally requested by Miss. Johnson herself. Confused, we weren’t sure it was a good idea to divulge our information. After seeking the advice of a fellow fan who is well known by the crew, we spoke to another senior PA regarding the odd request, which he also validated. So, we graciously identified ourselves on Twitter and IG. Tuesday would prove to be just as stellar, we just didn’t know it yet.

Tuesday April 12th, 2016

The weather in Vancouver changed significantly on Tuesday; it was cold, wet and dreary but that didn’t break our spirits. Scenes shot from the interior of Cecil Green were underway in the late morning, and we arrived just in time to catch a glimpse of the action. Even though we didn’t get any clear shots of Jamie and Dakota, the experience in itself was exciting. We knew there was a possibility of a day without pictures but when you travel so far to get a glimpse of the action, you seize every opportunity. We met a lot of people including crew members and other fans alike and sparked friendships and relationships with each and every one of them.

As the day wrapped, we began packing our belongings ready to leave. We waited until the cast was driven away from the set in hopes of getting a glimpse of Jamie and Dakota. We were not left disappointed. Miss Dakota Johnson herself requested to her driver that he stop so she could have a word with us. She stopped where we were standing and rolled down her window. Now, try to understand our pure shock at the site of the beautiful Miss. Johnson rolling down her window to talk to us. Magical, to say the least. Dakota looked like Heaven; her long brown hair was glistening even though there was no sun and her movie makeup was still on. She looked breathless. She rolled down her window and said “Hi girls! I just want to apologize for the way you were treated yesterday. It’s unfortunate. I know you’ve traveled a long way to be here and the behaviour you experienced yesterday by paparazzi is inexcusable. They’re *ass holes* (she mouthed, and scrunched her nose in disgust. It was adorable). Is there anything I can do for you?” In a moment of paralysis, we said nothing except acknowledge the fact that Johnson has stopped to speak with us. In that moment, all the abuse we had suffered became worth it. And had it not have been for the poor judgement and lack of respect from these paparazzi, we would not have had the chance to have such a memorable encounter with Dakota. She truly adores her fans and would do anything for them. We have a new and higher respect for Miss. Johnson and are flattered that she took the time to address us regarding the previous day’s incident. Thank you Dakota for being so gracious to us.

High on our encounter with Dakota, we left the set in search of food and good cocktails to celebrate such an awesome day!

Wednesday April 13th, 2016

Cast and crew were inside for interior scenes at Northshore Studios. This gave us the day to visit Casa Mia where scenes would be filmed inside on Friday and Saturday. Casa Mia is used as the Grey Mansion and was used in Fifty Shades of Grey and will continue to be used for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. We weren’t permitted to enter the grounds so any and all of our pictures were taken from the front gate.

After we visited Casa Mia, we took the rest of the day to explore the city of Vancouver and visit various filming locations featured in Fifty Shades of Grey as well as upcoming filming locations which will be featured in Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. Naturally, we took Pocket Christian and Pocket Dakota along for the ride!

First we visited The Fish House in Stanley Park. The Fish House was featured in the first movie as the restaurant that Ana and Carla (Ana’s mother) visit while Ana is in Georgia. The Fish House sadly closed on October 1st, 2015 after 25 years of business. The doors were locked and thus, we could not enter the establishment, but we still managed to take some extraordinary pictures!

Next, we were off to Beaver Lake, the infamous lake in which Christian and Ana visit in Fifty Shades of Grey. It was such a beautiful place that Pocket Christian decided to make a cameo! The scenery was stunning, peaceful and full of wildlife. We saw mallard ducks and a beautiful blue heron. This was definitely one of my most favourite parts of my trip to Vancouver.

Next we were off to Grey House, to see in person where our favourite megalomaniac hides high in his glass tower. Nestled right in the middle of downtown Vancouver, Grey House is a nostalgic reminder of the billionaires office building used in Fifty Shades. Definitely worth seeing in person if you ever visit Vancouver! Pocket Christian (of course) had to take a picture in front of his castle.

Next we were off to Clayton’s! What a fantastic visit! The store personnel were generous to let us take pictures and to Periscope! We cleaned them out of their stock of rope, tape and cable ties. However, no actual red rope was in the store. We were told that the red rope was brought in specifically for Fifty Shades. Darn. (Make sure to check out our giveaway here.)

After a long day of walking and sightseeing, we decided to call it a day and went to The London Pub for dinner. The London Pub is used in Fifty Shades Darker as Fifty’s – the bar in which Ana, Jack and their co-workers visit after Ana’s first successful week at SIP. It’s rumoured however, that the pub in Darker will not be named Fifty’s. Regardless, it’s rustic and chaotic interior will make for the perfect awkward bar scene in which Christian will finally meet Jack. There was also a scene filmed which included Ana, Kate and Elliot, which we presume is when Elliot receives the news regarding Christian, Ros and Charlie Tango.

After a long and tiring day, we headed back to the hotel where we watched Fifty Shades of Grey with an entirely new perspective after having visited many of the filming locations in person. We were ready to rest up and conquer the day tomorrow with more filming locations!

Thursday April 14th, 2016

Thursday started on a high note with our first visit beginning with the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, or The Heathman Hotel in Fifty Shades of Grey. With so many iconic scenes filmed at the Fairmont, we were on cloud nine and ready to do whatever it took to get a glimpse at the inside.

First we started with the exterior where in the movie, Christian is seen returning to the hotel after a morning jog in the cool, brisk weather. As surreal as it was to see the exterior of ‘The Heathman,’ we had no idea how surreal our adventure was going to become!

We decided in the moment that we needed to get inside and check out the ballroom and the infamous elevators used in the first movie. With direction from a friend, we walked into the hotel like we owned the joint and were not left disappointed. The ballroom and corridor leading away from the ballroom was our first of two stops. It’s unmistakable carpet and hallways were the epitome of nostalgia. You could almost feel the charge in the air as if we were flies on the wall during Christian’s photoshoot with José.

Our next goal were the elevators. Oh those infamous elevators in which Christian violates his own rules with his potential submissives because his overwhelming need to consume Ana takes over. Once we were in the elevators ready to hit the 14th floor, it quickly became apparent that we did not have access as we were not staying at the hotel. Reserved for GOLD MEMBERS only, the only way to reach the 14th floor would be to have a hotel card granted to those who have suites on either the 14th or 15th floors. Sadly, we did not have this key card. But we weren’t going to give up that easily. We stayed in the hotel lobby for roughly five to ten minutes before deciding that we would get into the elevator with the next person who came along, in hopes that we would somehow reach the 14th floor. Luck was on our side; on the first try a young woman entered the elevator which we were already in, inserted her card and pressed ’14.’ We were elated to say the least and in the brief moments that it took us to reach the 14th floor, our excitement was barely under control, trying not to crack at the sheer anticipation of seeing these most infamous elevators. The doors to the 14th floor opened and we were in awe. There, right before our eyes were THE elevators. We were laughing hysterically at the unbelievable luck we had encountered. It was meant to be.

Next we were off to Gastown – a small yet extremely popular part of Vancouver where many scenes for Fifty Shades of Grey as well as Fifty Shades Darker were/are filmed. We visited Ana’s Apartment, SIP, the corner which the cyclist incident occurred, the Waterstreet Cafe, where Christian and Ana go for coffee and the restaurant in which Ana takes Christian for breakfast. We also visited the site which Leila (Bella Heathcote) watches the pair from outside. Nostalgia once again set in as well as the excitement for the upcoming movies!

Last but certainly not least, we visited Coal Harbour, where Christian is seen jogging during the opening credits to Fifty Shades of Grey. With a cool breeze off the Pacific Ocean, the view was accompanied by the Canadian Rockies and the glowing sun. Coal Harbour really hit home and was an absolute spectacle to see in person.

After Coal Harbour we returned to Casa Mia in hopes of getting more shots of Grey Mansion. However, we were still not permitted to enter the grounds. We complied as we did not want to impede on the work of the crew. After we left Casa Mia, I made my way to the airport hotel where I would spend the night to catch the earliest flight home in the morning. Karoline and I parted ways but will always remember the times we shared and the memories we created in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia.

FIRST WEEK OF FILMING

Well, it was quite a week for Fifty Shades of Grey stars and fans alike as filming for the second and third installment of the franchise began with both of its lead roles on Monday February 29th, 2016.

MONDAY FEBRUARY 29TH, 2016

Jamie Dornan arrives on set in that perfectly tailored suit that only Christian Grey can wear. The crew had a 5am start while the stars arrived on set a couple of hours later. Most of the scenes filmed on Monday were interior, limiting pictures to the public and also disguising which scenes in particular were shot.

Dornan basically snuck into Canada with very few people knowing on Saturday evening, or so reports say, and was under tight security as to avoid any intrusion of his privacy. The general public was notified Sunday evening about his arrival the night before by various online outlets leavings fans stunned that Dornan was able to elude any paparazzi and avoid photographers alike.

While day one was off to a slow start for the fans and public, the days ahead proved to be nothing short of hectic and a tad boisterous.

TUESDAY MARCH 1ST, 2016

Tuesday was a thrill ride for fans as Jamie and Dakota were in full blown Christian and Ana mode. Filming on Tuesday took place in Gastown at SIP, Ana’s new job at a Seattle publishing company. Dornan rocked Christian’s usual CEO style while Johnson looked adorable as always in Ana’s new sophisticated style.

While the day was full of wet and cool weather, it didn’t seem to phase the actors as they were often seen laughing and giggling with each other, disallowing the weather to break their spirits. But things soon got serious when a distraught Ana runs from her office building into the arms of her beloved Christian. It was evident that the scene being shot was the one in which Jack (Eric Johnson), Ana’s boss, comes on to Ana in a most unwelcome way. Ana then flees the office where Christian and Taylor (Max Martini) are waiting for her.

Dornan and Johnson also filmed a walk-and-talk scene along the south side of Alexander Street between Columbia and Fortnight Barbers where they were seen canoodling in the streets. A most definite softer side of Grey is evident in these photos and had fans swooning all over social media.

Filming wrapped in late afternoon after a successful day of exterior scenes. The cast and crew parted ways no doubt in an effort to get a good night’s sleep in preparation for yet another busy day of production on Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 2ND, 2016

Filming continued on Wednesday March 2nd on the southside of Alexander between Fortnight Barbers and Columbia where one scene took place beside a parked car. Reports said Ana (Johnson) was seen purchasing a keychain at a kiosk set up by production. Photos later show Ana gifting a box to Christian (Dornan) which is clear evidence that Ana is accepting Christian’s marriage proposal sending fans into yet another frenzy.

Later in the afternoon, the two were seen filming another walk-and-talk scene at the west end of Alexander on the south side. Both were seen dressed in casual clothing while holding hands, suggesting that Christian is settling into his new found freedom with Ana quite nicely and comfortably. Dornan also maintains some scruff which has fans torn. Although the novel mentions Grey having a five o’clock shadow, fans aren’t too sure how they feel about it. We however, love it.

On this day in particular, Fifty Shades Darker was trending on Facebook, evidence of the fan presence on social media. Bella Heathcote (Leila – one of Grey’s [many] ex-submissives) also shot a scene on the street in which she appeared zombie-like, suggesting that since Johnson was also on set, it was the scene in which Leila first meets Ana.

Filming on this day wrapped at a reasonable time in the afternoon suggesting Thursday would be nothing short of awesome.

THURSDAY MARCH 3RD, 2016

Thursday was a more controlled set day as interior scenes were filmed inside the London Pub. Filming lasted throughout the day yet had a late finish. Few photos of the cast members were taken and shared online however, the fans needs this slow day to recuperate from the three previous days. Friday would prove to be another great day nonetheless.

FRIDAY MARCH 4TH, 2016

Christian. Christian Everywhere! Friday was a great day. After a much needed down day for the fandom, filming outside (and inside) started right back up on Friday and we were not left disappointed. Production on Friday was set up at 120 Powell Street, where multiple scenes were shot outside.

Dornan and Johnson were seen outside filming multiple scene in which Christian is dressed both as the CEO and relaxed badboy. One scene in particular shows Dornan exiting an Audi (above) in which he retrieves a package from his car. Upon completion of the scene however, umbrella’s clouded onlookers and blocked photographers from snapping any pictures. No doubt production was told to keep this scene away from the public’s eye. It’s rumoured that the umbrella’s were covering a scene in which Grey retrieves the package from his car and brings it to Ana at her apartment. The secrecy has fans roaring, wondering what was happening behind the shroud of umbrellas.

Another scene was also shot behind 100 Powell street which involved ‘a girl’ walking down the alley followed by an eerie fog. Was Leila lurking in the alley?

Filming wrapped quite late on Friday evening as author E L James posted many pictures on Instagram highlighting the Vancouver city lights at night. Filming would not resume until the following week giving cast and crew a much needed weekend off.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEK

So what’s coming up this week in Vancouver? We only have a filming schedule for two days – Tuesday and Wednesday in which scenes will be shot in front of and inside at 120 Powell Street. (Ana and Kate’s apartment) That isn’t to say that these two days with very little exterior scenes are the only scenes being shot next week. Although a filming schedule for any other day has not yet been posted, including Monday, we’re optimistic we will get to see Jamie on set again this week.

On Monday it’s rumoured that at least one interior scene is scheduled to be shot however no filming notice has been posted as of yet. Stay tuned to the site and our branches of social media for up to the minute news regarding the progression of filming.

BELLA HEATHCOTE JOINS CAST OF FIFTY SHADES DARKER, FREED AS CHRISTIAN’S EX-SUB

WHAT DO YOU HAVE THAT I DON’T?

News came much to the surprise of the Fifty Shades of Grey fandom today that a crucial member of the trilogy’s cast had finally been added. Bella Heathcote will play the strange, mentally ill and elusive Leila Williams, Christian Grey’s ex-submissive in both Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.

Leila is a crucial part to the series and plays a very cryptic role. After finding a picture of her ex-dom and his new girlfriend at Ana’s graduation, Leila goes on the hunt for Ana, seeking answers as to what makes Ana different from Leila, and all the rest (of Christian’s past submissives.) As Christian has never publicly had a girlfriend before, only submissives, Leila’s interests are piqued and she sets out on a quest to confront Ana and Christian – but it gets creepy along the way. She stalks Christian’s apartment, watches them sleep and even pulls a gun on Ana. It’s a crucial moment in the story that leads to Christian breaking down, allowing his walls to crumble and finally letting Ana in. Without Leila, Christian may have never been forced to face his demons.

Heathcote is a popular actress who hails from down unda, Australia. Her work includes Dark Shadows opposite Johnny Depp and In Time opposite Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake. However, it was her work as Victoria Winters in Dark Shadows that proves she’s capable of taking on the challenging role of Williams. Her glassy blue eyes and pale, light skin are all attributes well associated with the delusional Leila. Fans have taken to the news extremely well, welcoming her into the #FiftyFamily and spreading nothing but positive feedback regarding the casting choice.

Fifty Shades Darker and Freed will film simultaneously in Vancouver, BC, Canada and for a few days in Paris, France beginning February 16th, 2016 through mid July 2016. Darker is slated to release on February 10th, 2017 while Freed will release just shy of a year later on February 9th, 2018.
