FIRST WEEK OF FILMING<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, it was quite a week for Fifty Shades of Grey<\/strong> stars and fans<\/em> alike as filming for the second and third installment of the franchise began with both of its lead roles<\/em> on Monday February 29th, 2016.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

MONDAY FEBRUARY 29TH, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MONDAY\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Jamie Dornan<\/strong> arrives on set in that perfectly tailored suit that only Christian Grey<\/strong> can wear. The crew had a 5am start<\/em> while the stars arrived on set a couple of hours later.<\/em> Most of the scenes filmed on Monday<\/strong> were interior, limiting pictures to the public and also disguising<\/em> which scenes in particular were shot.<\/p>\n

Dornan<\/strong> basically snuck into Canada<\/em> with very few people knowing on Saturday evening<\/strong>, or so reports say, and was under tight security<\/em> as to avoid any intrusion of his privacy<\/strong>. The general public was notified Sunday evening<\/strong> about his arrival the night before by various online outlets leavings fans stunned that Dornan<\/strong> was able to elude any paparazzi<\/em> and avoid photographers alike.<\/em><\/p>\n

While day one was off to a slow start<\/em> for the fans and public,<\/strong> the days ahead proved to be nothing short of hectic and a tad boisterous.<\/p>\n

\n

TUESDAY MARCH 1ST, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"DARKER0301\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Tuesday<\/strong> was a thrill ride for fans as Jamie and Dakota<\/strong> were in full blown Christian and Ana<\/strong> mode. Filming on Tuesday<\/strong> took place in Gastown at SIP<\/strong>, Ana’s new job at a Seattle publishing company.<\/em> Dornan<\/strong> rocked Christian’s<\/strong> usual CEO style<\/em> while Johnson<\/em> looked adorable as always in Ana’s<\/strong> new sophisticated style.<\/em><\/p>\n

While the day was full of wet and cool weather<\/em>, it didn’t seem to phase the actors as they were often seen laughing and giggling<\/em> with each other, disallowing the weather to break their spirits.\u00a0But things soon got serious when a distraught Ana<\/strong> runs from her office building into the arms of her beloved Christian<\/strong>. It was evident that the scene being shot was the one in which Jack<\/strong> (Eric Johnson)<\/em>, Ana’s boss<\/strong>, comes on to Ana<\/strong> in a most unwelcome<\/em> way. Ana<\/strong> then flees the office where Christian and Taylor<\/strong> (Max Martini)<\/em> are waiting for her.<\/p>\n

Dornan and Johnson<\/strong> also filmed a walk-and-talk<\/em> scene along the south side of Alexander Street<\/em> between Columbia and Fortnight Barbers<\/em> where they were seen canoodling in the streets. A most definite softer side of Grey<\/strong> is evident in these photos and had fans swooning<\/em>\u00a0all over social media.<\/p>\n

Filming wrapped in late afternoon<\/em> after a successful day of exterior scenes. The cast and crew parted ways no doubt in an effort to get a good night’s sleep in preparation for yet another busy day of production on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

WEDNESDAY MARCH 2ND, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"0302\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Filming continued on Wednesday March 2nd<\/strong> on the southside of Alexander<\/strong> between Fortnight Barbers and Columbia<\/strong> where one scene took place beside a parked car. \u00a0Reports said Ana<\/strong> (Johnson)<\/em> was seen purchasing a keychain<\/strong> at a kiosk set up by production. Photos later show Ana<\/strong> gifting a box to Christian<\/strong> (Dornan)<\/em> which is clear evidence that Ana is accepting Christian’s marriage proposal<\/em> sending fans into yet another frenzy.<\/p>\n

Later in the afternoon<\/strong>, the two were seen filming another walk-and-talk scene<\/em> at the west end of Alexander<\/strong> on the south side. Both were seen dressed in casual clothing\u00a0<\/em>while holding hands, suggesting that Christian<\/strong> is settling into his new found freedom with Ana<\/strong> quite nicely and comfortably. Dornan<\/strong> also maintains some scruff<\/em> which has fans torn. Although the novel mentions Grey<\/strong> having a five o’clock shadow,<\/em> fans aren’t too sure how they feel about it. We however, love it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On this day in particular, Fifty Shades Darker<\/strong> was trending<\/em> on Facebook<\/strong>, evidence of the fan presence on social media. Bella Heathcote<\/strong> (Leila – one of Grey’s [many] ex-submissives)<\/em> also shot a scene on the street in which she appeared zombie-like<\/em>, suggesting that since Johnson<\/strong> was also on set, it was the scene in which Leila<\/strong> first meets Ana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Filming on this day wrapped at a reasonable time<\/em> in the afternoon suggesting Thursday<\/strong> would be nothing short of awesome.<\/p>\n

THURSDAY MARCH 3RD, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"PUB\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Thursday was a more controlled set day as interior scenes<\/em> were filmed inside the London Pub.<\/strong> Filming lasted throughout the day yet had a late finish. Few photos of the cast members<\/em> were taken and shared online however, the fans needs this slow day to recuperate from the three previous days. Friday<\/strong> would prove to be another great day nonetheless.<\/p>\n

FRIDAY MARCH 4TH, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"0304\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Christian. Christian Everywhere!<\/em> Friday was a great day. After a much needed down day for the fandom, filming outside (and inside) started right back up on Friday<\/strong> and we were not left disappointed. Production on Friday was set up at 120 Powell Street<\/em>, where multiple scenes were shot outside.<\/p>\n

Dornan and Johnson<\/strong> were seen outside filming multiple scene in which Christian<\/strong> is dressed both as the CEO and relaxed badboy.<\/em> One scene in particular shows Dornan<\/strong> exiting an Audi (above) in which he retrieves a package from his car.<\/em> Upon completion of the scene however, umbrella’s clouded onlookers and blocked photographers<\/em> from snapping any pictures. No doubt production was told to keep this scene away from the public’s eye. It’s rumoured<\/em> that the umbrella’s were covering a scene in which Grey<\/strong> retrieves the package from his car<\/em> and brings it to Ana<\/strong> at her apartment. The secrecy has fans roaring, wondering what was happening behind the shroud of umbrellas.<\/p>\n

Another scene was also shot behind<\/em> 100 Powell<\/strong> street which involved ‘a girl’ walking down the alley followed by an eerie fog.<\/em>\u00a0Was Leila<\/strong> lurking in the alley?<\/p>\n

Filming wrapped quite late on Friday evening as author E L James posted many pictures on Instagram highlighting the Vancouver city lights at night. Filming would not resume until the following week giving cast and crew a much needed weekend off.<\/p>\n

\n

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n

So what’s coming up this week in Vancouver?<\/em> We only have a filming schedule for two days – Tuesday and Wednesday<\/strong> in which scenes will be shot in front<\/em> of and inside<\/em> at 120 Powell Street.<\/strong> (Ana and Kate’s apartment)<\/em> That isn’t to say that these two days with very little exterior scenes are the only scenes being shot next week. Although a filming schedule for any other day has not yet been posted, including Monday<\/strong>, we’re optimistic we will get to see Jamie<\/strong> on set again this week.<\/p>\n

On Monday<\/em>\u00a0it’s rumoured that at least one interior scene<\/strong> is scheduled to be shot\u00a0however no filming notice has been posted as of yet. Stay tuned to the site<\/em> and our branches of social media<\/em> for up to the minute news regarding the progression of filming.<\/p>\n
