It’s official – Kim Basinger<\/strong> has joined the cast of Fifty Shades of Grey<\/strong> as Elena Lincoln<\/strong>, Christian Grey’s<\/strong> former dominant and ex-lover.<\/em><\/p>\n

News broke yesterday via Twitter<\/em> by multiple credible outlets including @Variety<\/strong> (which E L James retweeted, basically confirming the news anyhow)<\/em> and @FiftyShades<\/strong>, the franchises official Twitter<\/em> account. Fans went ballistic and took to the news well and with optimism.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Fifty Shades Darker<\/strong> and Fifty Shades Freed<\/strong> are set to begin production February 15th, 2016<\/em> in Vancouver, BC<\/strong> so it was only a matter of time before new cast members were announced. The fans have taken to the news quite well by sending positive vibes, welcoming Basinger<\/strong> to #TeamFifty<\/em> and our #FiftyFamily,<\/em> while others are already hard at work on original graphic designs featuring Basinger<\/strong> in the smoldering and seductive role.<\/p>\n

Basinger<\/strong> is a bombshell and a former Ford Model<\/em> with a lot of experience under her belt. Kim<\/strong> decided to leave modeling behind and moved to Hollywood<\/strong> in the mid 70’s<\/em> to pursue acting, which she successfully accomplished. In her early acting career she had roles in major television and cinematic productions<\/em> including Charlie’s Angels<\/em>, Nadine, Batman<\/em> and was even a Bond Girl<\/strong> in ‘Never Say Never Again.’<\/em> It wasn’t until later on in her career when she decided to take on more provocative<\/em>, thought provoking<\/em> roles such as Kim Mathers<\/strong>, Marshall Mathers’ mother in ‘8 Mile,’<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0‘Cellular’<\/strong> opposite Jason Statham.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a repertoire as broad, sexy and sophisticated as Kim<\/strong>, it’s no wonder she was offered the role as sexy temptress<\/em> and ultimate dominant<\/em> Elena Lincoln.<\/strong> She definitely has the look for the image created by Erika<\/strong> in the novels.
